Communion And The Body of Christ

Episode 14

The purpose of communion was to build community. Now with church buildings shut down the community has been broken. Pastor Kevin and Pastor Sandy discover the purpose was to build community in our homes. This is where the church has failed us. Communion is not exclusively for church settings but in our community as well. Church is where the people are!

“And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.” Luke 22:19

Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. Acts 2:46-47

Those who would argue that communion is ONLY for the church to administer use this verse as proof. “On the first day of the week, Sunday” proving only once a week at church. If that is true I can also use this verse to come to your church and preach till midnight!

Acts 20:7 On the first day of the week we came together to break bread. Paul spoke to the people and, because he intended to leave the next day, kept on talking until midnight.
